CLEANER SIDEWALKS

I will work to have the Sanitation Department return to Harlem the 223 litter baskets taken away from our community and call for an interdisciplinary community taskforce to study the social psychology of littering, with recommendations issued. I live across the street from St Nicholas Park and I love our block parties and barbeques. During the COVID-19 shutdown, our parks and sidewalks have been among the few places that we’ve actually had for in-person socializing and we all should take care of them. Here’s where I will start:

  • Call for interdisciplinary community taskforce to study the social psychology of littering and develop action plan to curb the behavior

  • Request the New York Sanitation Department return the 223 litter baskets taken away from Harlem

  • Call for an expansion of the Clean Curbs pilot program

  • Restore City Sanitation Department budget to put out more litter baskets and empty them more often

  • Review public parks’ accessibility and seek new play and fitness equipment in most underserved parks
